Physical Education and Upcoming Construction…

Posted on September 09, 2015 in Uncategorized by Mr.McLean

The Physical Education program at Pauline Johnson for Grades 1-6 will be undergoing some changes this year due to school expansion. The Grade 5 and 6 classes at Pauline Johnson North (previously Cardinal Heights) have been timetabled into the gymnasium at that site. Classes at the Pauline Johnson South campus will use the existing gym until renovations begin. At this point, classes will be going outside as much as possible to participate in Physical Education. Students should make every effort to dress appropriately based on the weather conditions (hats for sunny weather, jackets and sweaters for colder days). In the event of rain, or if the weather conditions dictate that we must stay indoors for safety, Physical Education will take place in our Fitness Room. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

  • VIRTUAL AGENDA

Our physical education program will emphasize fitness and skill development, and active participation. This means lots of running, jumping, and playing! It also means making healthy choices.

    • To ensure student safety, proper athletic shoes should be worn.
    • The shoes need to fit properly and have adequate support.
    • Socks should also be worn with shoes.
    • Students should also wear clothing during physical education that will permit them to move in a flexible and safe manner (t-shirts and sweatpants, shorts).

Keeping an extra pair of running shoes at school is recommended.

Please remember to take off jewelry and glasses, and put them on the stage or a safe place.

    Bring a water bottle.

Circle the gym days on your calendar and encourage your child to be responsible for remembering their equipment.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
